Q: Some Oxford tips:
-Try to visit all of the colleges while you're there, but my personal favourites are Magdalen, New, and Merton. Visit the cloisters at New!
-It's always worth being polite to the porters if you want to have a look around – pretend to be prospective applicants, and they’re more likely to let you in!
-The Bodleian tours are worth doing – informative, good value, and you get to see the Duke Humfrey’s.
-Don’t bother with the bus tours – you get a much better sense of Oxford just from walking around.
-The Botanic gardens and Christ Church are both beautiful, but the University Parks are also worth visiting – one of my favourite places in Oxford.
-If you’re friends with any students at Oxford, make the most it – better access to places, and cheaper punting. The amount they make tourists pay for punting is ridiculous.
-In my experience, the best coffee in Oxford is at the Vaults and Garden (Radcliffe Square) and the Missing Bean (Turl Street). The Nosebag (St Michael’s Street) is very cosy and just a lovely place to hang out in general.
-It goes without saying, but visit Blackwell’s!
